* The City's enterprise backup system is key to enabling the City's data protection, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies.
* On December 9, 2019, City Council approved competitively-solicited unit price contracts with various vendors, including SHI International Corp, for technology products and associated services for an initial term of three years with two optional one-year renewals.
* This action approves the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the enterprise backup system project through an existing unit price contract with SHI International Corp.
* The current enterprise backup system was acquired three years ago via a five-year "Flex-on-demand" subscription expiring in 2023.
* The City needs to identify, purchase, and implement a new enterprise backup solution at least six to twelve months before the current subscription expires to allow time to implement and transition to the new system.
* ARPA funding approved for this purchase supports the transition to the new system.
* The updates to the City's technology infrastructure will support the City's pandemic operational needs with telework as a means of mitigating and preventing the spread of COVID-19.
* Total ARPA expenditures are estimated to be $512,000.
