Explanation
§ The current School Zone Policy was developed in 2004.
§ The updates to bring the policy in line with the new national standards and Vision Zero goals is needed.
§ There are approximately 170 schools that may be eligible for new school zones or changes to existing zones.
§ On January 14, 2019 the Transportation and Planning Committee voted unanimously to advance the policy updates to the full Council (Ajmera was absent).
Future Action
The updated policy will be presented to City Council for adoption at a future date.
