Explanation
* Charlotte Water operates three water treatment plants producing approximately 100 million gallons per day of quality drinking water for more than 950,000 customers.
* Each treatment plant contains a water quality laboratory so that the operators can analyze samples to maintain quality standards throughout the treatment process.
* This project provides for laboratory safety and modernization improvements at the Franklin and Vest facilities, which benefits water treatment and water quality by maintaining a safe, reliable and efficient laboratory setting.
* These renovations include:
? Replacing existing laboratory cabinetry with new cabinetry to remove asbestos,
? Replacing vinyl floor tile with more durable rubberized floor covering,
? Replacing light fixtures and ceiling tiles, and
? Installation of high efficiency heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems.
* On November 22, 2017, Charlotte Water issued an Invitation to Bid; four bids were received from interested service providers.
* Wharton-Smith, Inc. was selected as the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder.
