Explanation
• On February 1, 2024, the Mayor referred the review of the Community Safety Framework related to juvenile crime to the Housing, Safety and Community Committee. The referral was briefly introduced to the Committee at the February 5, 2024 meeting. At the March 4 meeting, the Committee discussed the scope of the referral, provided feedback on a proposed approach to youth and stakeholder engagement, and received an overview of relevant data and statistics as well as a presentation on the Mecklenburg County Community Violence Strategic Plan. The Committee will receive updates on benchmarks and best practice research, existing programs and policies, and the youth engagement process.
