Explanation
§ The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) conducted an evaluation of crash history at the intersection of Albemarle Road and Reddman Road.
§ The evaluation revealed a history of angle crashes for vehicles exiting a driveway immediately west of Reddman Road.
§ NCDOT proposed the installation of a concrete median on Albemarle Road west of Reddman Road to restrict left turns to and from the driveway entrance.
§ NCDOT will fully fund the cost of these improvements.
§ The project requires a resolution of support for the use of NCDOT High Hazard Elimination funding.
§ The project supports the Vision Zero Action Plan by advancing a safe transportation system for all users.
§ NCDOT anticipates beginning design in Fiscal Year 2022.
§ This intersection is in Council District 5.
