Adopt a resolution authorizing the City to accept a grant award of in the amount of $25,000 from the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program.

Explanation

§                     The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP), which provides the following:

-                     $17,500 to purchase five additional LIDAR radar units used in police vehicles and radar speed signs to help enforce speed limit laws, and

-                     $7,500 for the Regional Law Enforcement Liaison’s travel, training, and meeting expenses.

§                     The grant is for a one-year term from October 1, 2022, through September 30, 2023.

§                     GHSP requires that City Council pass a resolution authorizing the acceptance of the grant funding.

§                     No matching funds are required from the City.
