Explanation
§ The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has an opportunity to accept a grant award of $20,000 from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP), which provides the following:
- $14,000 to purchase four additional dual antenna radar units used in police vehicles to help enforce speed limit laws, and
- $6,000 for the Regional Law Enforcement Liaison travel, training, and meeting expenses.
§ The grant is for a period of one year. No matching funds are required from the city.
§ GHSP requires that City Council pass a resolution authorizing the acceptance of grant funding.
