Explanation
§ The Federal Highway Administration mandates that bridges and culverts be inspected every two years for structural adequacy, safety, and functionality.
§ The city is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of 205 bridges within city limits.
§ This contract provides for routine construction and maintenance work to three bridges identified through the inspection process. The bridges are located in Council Districts 2 and 3.
§ Work may include but is not limited to:
- Superstructure replacement,
- Concrete pavement repairs,
- Asphalt surface sealing, repair, or replacement,
- Brush and tree control,
- Debris removal,
- Soil and erosion repairs,
- Barrier rail and hand rail installation and repairs,
- Retaining wall repairs and replacement,
- Culvert repairs,
- Removal, containment, and disposal of the existing materials,
- Traffic control, and
- Erosion and sediment control.
§ On June 3, 2019, the city issued an Invitation to Bid; three bids were received.
§ Sloan Construction was selected as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
§ Maintenance anticipated to occur Summer 2019.
