Explanation
§ The Entrance Monument project was recommended in the Wayfinding and Signage Master Plan to celebrate the entrance to the City of Charlotte.
§ This contract will provide pre-design professional services for the entrance monument.
§ Pre-design services include site due diligence of existing infrastructure; development of base maps and a 3-D model; and conceptual design of entrance monuments, landscape, and hardscape elements.
§ On March 23, 2017, the City issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ); 16 proposals were received.
§ C Design Inc. is the best qualified firm to meet the City’s needs on the basis of demonstrated competence and qualification of professional services in response to the RFQ requirements and their experience in designing entrance monuments, landscape, and hardscape elements.
§ In the future, Council will receive a request for the approval of a full design contract.
§ This activity is occurring on airport property (Council District 3).
Charlotte Business INClusion
The City negotiates subcontracting participation after the firm is selected for this services contract (Part C: Section 2.1(h) of the Charlotte Business INClusion Policy).
C Design, Inc. has committed 14.43% ($23,025) of the total contract amount to the following certified firms:
§ LDSI, Inc. (SBE) ($18,025) (land surveying)
§ Boyle Consulting Engineers, PLLC (SBE) ($5,000) (geotechnical investigations)
