Explanation
* This contract will provide design services for the Central Avenue/Kilborne Drive/Norland Road Pedestrian Improvements project identified in the Central/Albemarle/Shamrock Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement Program located in Council Districts 1 and 5.
* This project will include pedestrian and bicycle improvements and will enhance the existing City-owned parcel (parcel identification number 101-183-02) located at the intersection of Kilborne Drive and Central Avenue to create an Urban Greenspace with public art reflecting the history and culture of the area.
* Improvements will include, but are not limited to sidewalks, bicycle lanes, storm drainage, utility relocations, right-of-way/easements, and traffic control.
* On February 24, 2016, the City issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ); 20 proposals were received.
* Alta Planning + Design, Inc. was selected as the best qualified firm to meet the City's needs on the basis of demonstrated competence and qualification of professional services in response to the RFQ requirements.
* On November 28, 2016, City Council approved a contract in the amount of $189,600 to Alta Planning + Design, Inc. for planning services for the Central Avenue/Kilborne Drive and Norland Road Pedestrian Improvements project.
* Alta Planning + Design, Inc. has completed the planning phase which included traffic analysis, public meetings and outreach, conceptual plans, field surveys, and mapping.
