Explanation
§ This project includes the replacement of a 14-year-old HVAC system at the Charlotte Department of Transportation Street Maintenance Facility, located at 6001 General Commerce Drive.
§ The existing equipment has reached the end of its useful life and must be replaced.
§ The work will include, but is not limited to:
- Removal of existing HVAC equipment,
- Installation of a newly designed HVAC system, and
- Introduction of new technology for HVAC controls.
§ The new equipment will improve the energy efficiency of the facility and provide better occupant comfort.
§ On October 12, 2017, the City issued an Invitation to Bid; two bids were received from interested service providers.
§ Southern Comfort of Charlotte, Inc. was selected as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
§ The project is anticipated to be completed by first quarter 2018.

Construction contracts estimated to be less than $300,000 are informal and exempt from the goal setting process (Part A: Section 3.1 of the Charlotte Business INClusion Policy).
However, Southern Comfort of Charlotte, Inc. has committed 41.18% ($61,558.00) of the total Contract amount to the following certified firms:
