Explanation
* The contract with Southeastern Consulting Engineers, Inc. will provide professional engineering services for the replacement of the existing generator systems, related equipment, and structures at the Lee S. Dukes water treatment plant and the Mallard Creek wastewater treatment plant.
* The current generators at the plants do not provide sufficient power for the pumps to run at their full capacities, which is essential to support current and future water demands.
* On December 16, 2016, the City issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Professional Engineering Services for Standby Generator Facilities. In response to the RFQ, the City received four proposals from interested professional service providers for the Standby Generator Facility at the Mallard Creek WWTP and three proposals from interested professional service providers for the Standby Generator Facility at the Lee S. Dukes WTP.
* Southeastern Consulting Engineers, Inc. is the best qualified firm to meet the City's needs for both projects on the basis of demonstrated competence and qualification of professional services in response to the RFQ requirements.
* Charlotte Water will bring forth a contract for construction administration services in fall 2018.
