Title

Policy Referral - Pollinator Habitats and Naturalistic Landscapes

Body

Staff Resource(s):

Rebecca Hefner, Housing and Neighborhood Services

Jerry Green, Housing and Neighborhood Services

Explanation

On December 17, 2025, the Mayor asked the Committee to explore how the city can further encourage the creation of pollinator habitats and naturalistic landscapes while also maintaining safe and sanitary neighborhoods and communities. Staff will provide an overview of the current Health & Sanitation ordinance regarding overgrown vegetation, review the city’s current registry process for pollinator gardens and naturalistic landscapes that exempts maintained habitats from enforcement, and propose an edit to the ordinance to codify the enforcement exemption when properties are registered and properly maintained.

Action: Action if Committee desires.
