Explanation

§                     The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) conducted a capacity evaluation for the intersection of Brookshire Boulevard (NC-16) and Rozzelles Ferry Road / Nance Cove Road (Council District 2), which revealed the intersection is experiencing significant congestion, especially during the morning and evening peak hours.

§                     NCDOT proposed a reduced conflict intersection design to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve safety.

§                     NCDOT will be pursuing Direct Attributable funds through the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization and will fully fund the match required.

§                     The project requires a resolution of support from the municipality.

§                     The project supports the Strategic Mobility Plan, adopted by City Council in June 2022, by advancing a safe transportation system for all users.

§                     NCDOT anticipates beginning design in fiscal year 2025.
