Explanation
§ This project provides for the replacement of the aeration diffusers and a clarifier mechanism at the McDowell Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, located in the Town of Huntersville (adjacent to Council District 2).
§ On October 18, 2019, the city issued an Invitation to Bid (ITB); two bids were received.
- G.S. 143-132 prohibits municipalities from awarding construction contracts over $500,000 without receiving at least three competitive bids from the initial advertisement of the contract. The city may subsequently award the contract even if re-advertisements result in fewer than three competitive bids.
§ On November 22, 2019, the ITB was re-issued; two bids were received.
§ M. B. Kahn Construction Co., Inc. was selected as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
§ The project is anticipated to be complete by the first quarter of 2021.
