Explanation
§ On March 25, 2026, the mayor asked the Committee to consider what strategies and partnerships are needed to increase career exploration experiences and employment opportunities for Charlotte’s youth, and create meaningful pathways to education and jobs. 2026 also marks the 40th anniversary of the Mayor’s Youth Employment Program and a record number of youth expressing interest in participating in the program’s job and career exploration experiences. Staff will introduce the referral including strategies to strengthen employer and community partnerships, scale program impact, and better connect youth employment to long-term career pathways.
