Explanation

§                     Carolina Powertrain will provide bus transaxle (differential) reconditioning services for CATS buses. This includes picking up bus transaxle units from designated CATS maintenance facilities and performing full diagnostic evaluation, cleaning, testing, disassembly, and rebuilding of each differential in accordance with original equipment manufacturer specifications and manufacturer standards.

§                     On April 16, 2026, the city issued an Invitation to Bid; one bid was received.

§                     Carolina Powertrain was selected as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.

§                     Potential price adjustments may be considered based on legitimate and justified increases in the cost of doing business. The ability to consider price adjustments also allows the city to accept decreases, if warranted.

§                     Annual expenditures are estimated to be $229,112.
