Explanation
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) utilizes helicopters to provide aerial support for ground officers, assist in investigations, and reduce the rate of violent crime.
This project will construct a dedicated helicopter hangar and additional facility space for CMPD’s Aviation Division.
The relocation of the hangar, which is currently on Charlotte-Douglas International Airport property, will give CMPD more space and accommodate the airport’s future growth and development.
