Explanation
§ City Code Chapter 21 is known as the Charlotte Tree Ordinance and protects and regulates trees on public and private property. This ordinance is a non-development ordinance.
§ The amendments are to correct a minor clerical sequencing error in the ordinance’s organizational hierarchy and to provide increased technical clarity in terminology.
Proposed Changes
§ Technical amendment to City Code Section 21-14(h) changing “collected funds” to “collected civil penalties” as follows:
- Use of civil penalties collected. Civil penalties collected pursuant to this chapter shall only be used to further the purpose, intent, enforcement, spirit, and requirements of the Charlotte Tree Ordinance. The Charlotte Tree Advisory Commission shall be consulted with regard to the use of collected funds civil penalties.
§ Clerical amendment to City Code Section 21-6 changing “21-6” to “21-16” as follows:
- Sec. 21-16. - Hearings and appeals.
