A.                     Approve contract amendment #1 in the amount of $70,819 with Alta Planning & Design, Inc. for Cross Charlotte Trail Planning and Design Services, and

 

B.                     Authorize the City Manager to amend the contract consistent with the purpose for which the contract was approved.

Explanation

§                     The Cross Charlotte Trail (XCLT) is a joint project between the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County to create over 30 miles of continuous trail and greenway facilities.

§                     Segment #8, currently in construction, is approximately 1.38 miles long and runs from Tryon Street to Orr Road in Council District 1.  

§                     On March 2, 2020, the city entered into a design services contract in the amount of $489,386 with Alta Planning & Design, Inc. for segment #8 of the XCLT.

§                     Contract amendment #1 will include funding for value engineering and additional construction administration services.

§                     The new total contract amount including contract amendment #1 is $560,205.

 

Charlotte Business INClusion

All additional work involved in this Amendment will be performed by Alta Planning & Design, Inc. and their existing subconsultant(s). Alta Planning & Design, Inc. has committed 10.25% ($57,425) of the total contract amount of the following certified firm(s):

§                     The Dodd Studio, LLC, (SBE) ($15,165) (landscape architecture)

§                     Stewart Engineering, Inc. (MBE) ($42,260) (geotechnical and erosion control services)
