Explanation
* Public safety radios are two-way voice communication used by public safety-first responders, including Fire, Medic, Police, and Sheriff.
* On August 6, 2024, the city issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) on behalf of the City of Charlotte's Cooperative Purchasing Alliance (CCPA) and Participating Public Agencies for radios and communication equipment; four proposals were received.
* Motorola Solutions, Inc. and Two Way Radio of Carolina best meet the city's needs in terms of qualifications, experience, cost, and responsiveness to RFP requirements and other public entities that may choose to use the resulting contracts.
* CCPA contracts are designed to benefit all entities required to comply with state purchasing laws, including cities, counties, public and private schools, colleges and universities, non-profits, and governmental entities by leveraging aggregate purchasing volume to secure better pricing.
* Annual aggregate expenditures are estimated to be $3,500,000 with Motorola Solutions, Inc. and $400,000 with Two Way Radio of Carolina.
