Explanation

§                     Light rail tire wheel kits are complete assemblies designed for light rail vehicles consisting of a wheel, a resilient tire, and mounting components. They enhance ride quality, reduce noise, ensure safe wheel-to-rail contact, simplify maintenance, and extend component lifespan.

§                     The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) requires an estimated 32 sets of wheel kits for the light rail vehicle tires.

§                     On July 29, 2025, the city issued an Invitation to Bid; one bid was received.

§                     Siemens Mobility Inc. was selected as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.

§                     At renewal, potential price adjustments may be considered based on legitimate and justified increases in the cost of doing business. The ability to consider price adjustments also allows the city to accept decreases, if warranted.

§                     Estimated total expenditures are $500,000.
