Explanation
§ On December 13, 2021, City Council approved a contract with RH Price, Inc. for Design-Build design services for the Mallard Creek Interceptor project.
§ RH Price, Inc. has developed a guaranteed maximum price for Phase 1 of the construction of the Mallard Creek Interceptor - Mallard Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant to North Tryon Street segment - sanitary sewer project of $57,507,728.
§ The construction will upsize the existing sanitary sewer line to increase capacity in the Mallard Creek Basin in Council District 4. This project consists of approximately 16,512 feet of 60-inch sanitary sewer pipe, 36 manholes, and four tunnels.
§ Segments 10 and 11 of the Cross Charlotte Trail overlap with the Mallard Creek Interceptor project. These segments consist of approximately 11,375 feet of 12-feet wide paved trail, 240 feet of 12-feet wide elevated boardwalk, and three bridges across Mallard Creek.
§ In an effort to utilize collaborative construction efficiency, the city negotiated with RH Price to include Design-Build construction services for the portion of the Cross Charlotte Trail.
- A guaranteed maximum price of $12,408,885.02 was negotiated, which is below the engineers estimate.
§ Both Phase 1 of the Mallard Creek Sanitary Sewer project and Segments 10 and 11 of the Cross Charlotte Trail are anticipated to be completed by fourth quarter 2029.
