Explanation
§ The city has received a recommendation from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission to designate Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church Cemeteries #1 and #2 as a local historic landmark.
§ Public hearings are required prior to City Council action on designation requests.
§ The Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church Cemeteries #1 and #2 are located at 335 West Craighead Road and 4130 North Tryon Street, respectively, in Council District 1.
§ Designation of these properties could significantly contribute to their long-term preservation.
§ The Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church Cemeteries #1 and #2 are listed under parcel identification numbers 085-115-06 and 091-081-09, respectively, and the recommended designation would include the cemeteries and all fixtures associated with those two parcels, including without limitation all graves, grave markers, tombs, and architectural structures and features, and the land associated with the tax parcel.
§ The properties are zoned Manufacturing and Logistics (ML-1) and General Commercial (CG), respectively.
§ The properties are owned by Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, Inc. which is in agreement with the designation request.
§ The properties are currently exempt from the payment of property taxes.
