Model Cities Initiative

Committee will receive a briefing on the Department of Justice Model Cities Initiative (MCI), a
funding opportunity whereby the DOJ expects to award a total of $300 million to two-four cities
advancing innovative crime reduction strategies. The MCI requires applicants to demonstrate a
whole-of-city approach to crime reduction, reflecting multi-agency coordination and diverse
strategies including both enhanced law enforcement as well as prevention measures.
