Explanation
* The Federal Highway Administration mandates that bridges and culverts be inspected every two years for structural adequacy, safety, and functionality.
* The city is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of 205 bridges within city limits.
* This contract provides for routine construction and maintenance work to three bridges identified through the inspection process. The bridges are located in Council Districts 2 and 3.
* Work may include but is not limited to:
? Superstructure replacement,
? Concrete pavement repairs,
? Asphalt surface sealing, repair, or replacement,
? Brush and tree control,
? Debris removal,
? Soil and erosion repairs,
? Barrier rail and hand rail installation and repairs,
? Retaining wall repairs and replacement,
? Culvert repairs,
? Removal, containment, and disposal of the existing materials,
? Traffic control, and
* Erosion and sediment control.
* On June 3, 2019, the city issued an Invitation to Bid; three bids were received.
* Sloan Construction was selected as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
* Maintenance anticipated to occur Summer 2019.
