Explanation
* This request is for approval of a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the purchase of equipment required to complete major components of the Mallard Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Reliability and Ultraviolet Improvements project (Council District 4).
* This project will rehabilitate or replace critical components of the wastewater treatment process systems at the Mallard Creek WWTP to ensure reliable discharge permit compliance and provide additional capacity for future growth.
* The design phase for this project is 60 percent complete, with design expected to conclude in the third quarter of 2019. Construction will commence in the fourth quarter of 2019, with a construction duration of 24 months.
* Although construction has not commenced, approval of the GMP for the purchase of this equipment will accelerate the project's schedule and reduce the risk of future price escalation.
* On May 30, 2018, Council approved a contract with Crowder Constructors, Inc. for pre-construction phase services for this project.
* The estimated construction cost is $28,000,000.
* Council will receive a request for the approval of a second GMP to complete construction.
